Hi all,

I cannot believe that I am writing a post like this! How awesome to have been nominated for the Sunshine Award 2018?! I started my blog in November 2017 because I had some huge breakthroughs in my personal life after experiencing anxiety and panic attacks from an early age and I wanted to share any help and/or ideas that I found worked.

Thank you to Jennifer Lynn @Elegant_Living_ for the nomination. Jennifer’s blog is all about being the best version of yourself and covers topics from Health and Beauty to Home Decor. Check her blog out here

The 4 Rules:

  1. Thank blogger (s) who nominated you for the blog post and link back to their blog.
  2. Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
  3. Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 questions.
  4. List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award Logo in your post and / or blog!

Here are Jennifer’s questions:

1.When it comes to your blog, what do you think is the most important quality to have?

In my experience, people want to connect and learn about you. For that to happen you need to be honest and genuine. In my opinion, to be sincere in what you are writing about and the message you are sharing is the most important quality. It means that people reading your blog get to know the real you and you don’t have to put on any kind of mask or pretend to be somebody else when you are writing your posts. You can just be you.

2.If you were on the show Friends, what character would you most likely be most similar to?

Umm now I love Friends. As I was growing up, if I ever felt a panic attack coming on, I would put an episode on. It wasn’t always successful at completely stopping the attack but it always sped up my recovery. In my head, I am Phoebe. A little ditsy but I have my heart in the right place and I would do anything for those I love. I know, as I have had this conversation with my family, that I do have ‘Monica’ traits too though especially with the whole ‘fun with rules’! ‘Remember when you are putting the lids back on the pens, you need to hear them click!’ I think it is the teacher in me. I also like planning and organisation so I would say probably a mix of the two.

3.What can’t you live without in the mornings? And why?

In the last few years, since having my second child, I have been concentrating on looking after myself from what I eat, to how I think, to working out. One of the things that I am now used to every day, is having a good breakfast. I cannot leave the house without knowing that I have had something good to eat. This is a complete turn around for me as I used to miss it out all the time. I am a big believer in starting your morning strong so that the rest of the day can follow in the same way.

4.Is blogging everything you thought it was going to be?

Yes and No. I did a lot of research before I started my blog so I knew it would be hard work but I was prepared. I love writing and finding inspiration for posts and I do not see it as work so that bit has been quite easy. However, I wasn’t prepared to feel like an island, not knowing what else to do to get my message out there, to let like minded people know that they weren’t alone. I shared on most of the social media platforms and received some feedback but not a huge amount. Everyone was telling me to get onto Pinterest and so I did and still received very little engagement. It was then the self-doubt started to creep in and I questioned myself and my blog. Twitter, actually restored my faith as there is such a huge amount of support that I feel I am starting to get into my stride.

5.What is your favourite kind of book to read?

I love reading. It is one of my favourite things to do. I love lots of different genres and I tend to go through stages. At the moment, I love reading about psychology and the power of the mind. If I need to switch off completely then I love a good sci-fi book (complete nerd I know) or a good old romance. Anything with a happy ending. This links back to my anxiety. My husband once asked me why I don’t step out of my comfort zone regarding books and films and my response was that my head can be such a scary place to be sometimes that I need the happy endings the easy books and films give me, to restore my equilibrium.

6. What kind of cuisine could you eat everyday?

I LOVE food. I am completely one of those people who gets hangry so this is a difficult one for me as I love all food. Due to the variety and the flavour, I would have to go with Mexican. I love all Mexican food and it is so tasty and filled with flavour that I don’t think I would get bored.

7. What is your favourite past time or hobby?

Apart from reading, I love to make my own jewellery. I started to experiment with beads etc when I was in my late teens and have mostly self taught myself over the years. Again, I use it as a strategy to get out of my head and calm my mind. It works wonders. I do the occasional craft stall and I have a shop on Etsy which you can have a look here if you would like. I am in the process of adding more and I have just made my sister’s earrings and bracelet for her wedding.

8. To date, what is your most precious tip to living a well-lived life?

This has been something which has been a gradual realisation over the last few years. It is to be grateful for the little things. Most of the big things which I have accomplished in my life, while great, were not actually where I felt the most content. For me, living a well-lived life are things like; cuddling on the sofa with my children and appreciating that at that time, I have nowhere else to be, laughing at something completely unexpected, appreciating a beautiful, sunny day or taking time out with family or friends. In a book I recently read called ‘Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway’, you are encouraged to write down everything you are grateful for in one day and you’re not allowed to stop until you get to 50. 50 I thought, that’s impossible. It turns out it isn’t, it just requires you to think of all of the little moments which make up your day. That is where joy truly lies.

9. What is one quirky thing about you that not many people know?

I really don’t like reality shows, especially ones where they have to sing. It’s like I am actually on stage with them, I swear I actually feel a bit of their fear and I feel sick. My mum, dad and sisters love them so whenever I visit and a reality show is on, I have to walk out of the room. The best way that I can describe it, is that I feel too nervous to even watch it. I don’t get any enjoyment out of the shows at all.

10. If you had a super power for a day, what would you choose?

This is a tough one. I think I would go for flying. It is a bit of a cliché but I love superhero movies! I also vividly remember being about 5 a or 6 and thinking that if I practised hard enough, I could actually fly. The feeling of freedom and the power to go anywhere you wanted would be awesome!

11. What is the most pointless gift you have ever received?

I am an easy person to buy for so I cannot think of any gift which was completely pointless. I was bought a plug for my bath for one of my birthdays which I did think was completely random but my two kids love to play with it while they are in the bath so a good present for them.

  1. I loved your answers! I thought you answered them beautifully! I especially loved hearing your answer to number eight. A well-lived life is something I rank important in my life and you hit the nail right on the head! Being grateful seems so insignificant and like you mentioned that you thought it would be impossible to be grateful for 50 different things a day! However, life has so much to offer you if you allow it!

I really enjoyed reading your answers!

    Have a great night! 🙂

    1. Ah thank you. I love the old Superman films with Christopher Reeve but I’m not too keen on the new DC films. I think Marvel have done a much better job. Love all of them to be honest! My favourite ones are Thor, Antman and Spider-Man 😉 How about you?

  2. Great answers!I completely agree with you on appreciating the small things in life! It gives you a whole new outlook on life! Thanks again for nominating me!I’ll try to post again as soon as I have some more of my regular content up.
